PDF Split
Breaks one PDF into several parts. You can extract a single page, split into equal chunks, or pull out a specific page range as a new file.
What it does
Use this to pull page 1 out of a 300-page report, split a 500-page book into 50-page chapters, or extract pages 20-40 from a merged PDF as a standalone file.
How to use
- Drag the PDF in or click Select Source PDF. The file's page count and size appear once loaded.
- Pick a Split Mode (see below).
- Enter the page numbers.
- Set an Output Prefix for the new filenames (defaults to the source name).
- Click Run.
Split modes
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Extract Single Page | Saves the page you specify as a new standalone PDF. |
| Split Every X Pages | Breaks the document into equal-sized chunks. A 100-page PDF with 25 = 4 files. |
| Extract Page Range | Saves the range you specify as a single new PDF. |
Fields per mode
- Extract Single Page: Only "Target Page" is shown. Type which page to extract.
- Split Every X Pages: "Start", "End" and "Pages per File" are shown. Choose the source range to split and how many pages per chunk.
- Extract Page Range: Type "Start" and "End". That whole range becomes one new file.
Examples
Pull out the cover page: Add the PDF, pick "Extract Single Page", Target Page 1, run. You get report_1.pdf.
Split a book into 50-page chunks: Add the PDF, pick "Split Every X Pages", Start 1, End 500, Pages per File 50. You get 10 files.
Extract an appendix from a contract: Add the PDF, pick "Extract Page Range", Start 45, End 67. You get one contract_45-67.pdf.
Get two ranges out of one file: Extract the first range (1-30), come back and extract the second (31-60). You get two files.
Watch out
- This tool takes one file at a time, no batch mode. Repeat for more PDFs.
- Page numbers start at 1.
- Files over 500 MB show a warning about possible slowdown.
- Encrypted PDFs show a warning on load. Unlock them with PDF Encrypt first.
- Invalid filename characters (
/ \ : * ? " < > |) in the prefix are auto-replaced with_.
